WHAT IS SPORTS CONDITIONING

While sports conditioning seems fairly self explanatory, there are some less obvious but major differences from a generic training session.

Sports conditioning is designed to complement your current training. The aim, to significantly enhance the way your body functions specifically related to your sport, and with team sports, the position you play.

Many factors are considered with sports conditioning including, previous experience, specific training goals, injury management and prevention, specific muscle function and action, specific cardio requirements, competition season requirements and weekly training schedule. Finally, all exercises are performed recreating specific movements relative to your sport.

For example, someone who does karate requires a strong core, very fast muscle function and anaerobic fitness with a rapid recovery. However, things to consider before undertaking this specific training include muscle imbalances, current strength and technique and injury management.
